Monday, September 12
Classwork:
  1. Do Now: Finish Edison Benchmark Testing
  2. Then: Roots Quiz #6- fila/fili, fin, flex/flect, gastr(o), geo, grad/gress, graph/gram
  3. After: Grammar Review
  4. Reminder: Symbolism cards and paragraphs (2) due tomorrow/Wednesday
  5. Bring entire SIFT folder to class
Homework:Tuesday and Wednesday, September 13 and 14
Classwork:
  1. Do Now: Create Imagery or Figure of Speech Cards
  2. Turn in: Roots Quiz #6 (if not completed in class on Monday)
  3. Check for Completion: 2 Symbolism cards with paragraphs
  4. Writing Workshop: thesis statement and receive approval
  5. Writing Workshop: Outline on back of folder
  6. Writing Workshop: Imagery and Figure of Speech Paragraphs
  7. Reminder: Tone and Theme paragraphs due Thursday/Friday
Homework:
  • Complete any work not completed in class
  • Complete at least 1 card each for Tone and Theme (2 would be better. In case you are wrong, it's always better to have a back-up!)
  • Bring entire SIFT folder to class

  3. Writing Workshop: Introduction and receive approval
  4. Writing Workshop: Conclusion and receive approval (This will complete your Rough Draft)

Homework:
  1. Pages are numbered and have last name at top-right corner (ex. Fisher 1)
  2. Heading at top-left corner: Your name, English Period #, Date, SIFT Draft 1
  3. Skip a space- title is centered and should read 'Poetry Analysis for Song Title
  4. Next line should read 'by composer name'
  5. The paper should be written in 10 or 12 point legible font, double-spaced, 7 -10 paragraphs in length (at least 3 typed pages and no more than 5)
  6. Page Break at the end of the paper
  7. Last page(s) should have the heading at the top-left corner 'Appendix A'
  8. Skip a space- write the title of the song
  9. Below, write the name of the composer
  10. (if necessary) Below, write the performer's name if it is different than the composer
  11. SINGLE-SPACED, PLEASE! Type the lyrics to the song, including line numbers
  12. Note: if you have a particularly long song, you may use double-columns
