Tuesday and Wednesday, November 23 and 24
Classwork:
  1. Do Now: review 'tone' using Michael Jackson's 'Man in the Mirror'
  2. Search for 'tone' in your song/poem
  3. Introduce 'theme' and the 5 reasons for writing poetry:
1. A response to what we see and hear
2. A reaction to family and/or friends
3. Probing inner feelings
4. The dynamics of ambivalence
5. Delight in language
Homework:
  1. Study for roots quiz #13 on Monday
  2. By TUESDAY, all SIFTT items from your song should be identified. Remember, at least two cards for each item are required. Also, you must identify which of the 5 reasons for writing poetry fits with your song/poem's 'theme'. The 'theme' cards should identify what the theme is as well as explain a more specific 'theme' for this particular song/poem.
  3. ATTENTION: PLEASE REFER TO YOUR NOTES FROM CLASS WHEN COMPLETING THE NOTE CARDS. YOU MAY ALSO USE INTERNET RESOURCES TO HELP YOU, AS WELL AS THE LIBRARY.
